Automatic Reel Manufacturing and Assembly Equipment

This automation manufactures and tests a family of reels at a rate of 20 reels per minute. 

The system consists of four separate machines:  The two automatic flange feeding systems, an automatic tube cutting machine, and the assembly and testing machine. Flanges are automatically fed and singulated to the assembly machines with two hoppers, two elevator feeders, eight conveyers, four rotary brushes, twelve sensors and four air knives.  The desired tube lengths are automatically cut and fed to the assembly machine with the tubing cutting machine.  The assembly machine uses four pick and place mechanisms, cam driven automatic nests, two ultrasonic welders, two tamping stations and an array of sensors to assembly the reels.  A pull tester checks out the strength of every reel and the reels that pass are offloaded to an operator for packing.

The system can make over 100 reels and the changeover does not require ANY tools.
