These two 105’ long, electrically heated, sintering tunnel kilns were designed and built to sinter products at up to 3,000 oF for over 48 hours. On top of each kiln is a gas fired incinerator with a large vacuum ejector. The vacuum ejector creates a positive air flow into the kiln, through the incinerator and out the exhaust stack.

The photo on the right shows the brick work during the insulation process of the kilns. The drive zone pushes the entire stack of kiln cars with a ball screw driven linear slide. The ball screw is chain driven through a 50:1 double worm gear reducer with a one hp VFD motor and encoder. The linear drive was designed to produce up to 10,000 lbs of thrust at speeds as slow as 1.5 feet per hour.
